The theme dream
More and more people are opting for themed weddings and events these days. Although traditional party food is not a thing of the past (and we are glad about that), the wealth of cuisine available to us as consumers is overwhelming, and has opened up the catering market to lots of exciting dishes.
Here at Parties to Go we often get requests for something out of the ordinary. So, if you’re wanting an event that’s a bit of a break from the norm and are looking for inspiration, then maybe this will help. Here are a few ideas of themed events we’ve done and what you can serve up to give your guests a taste of something different.
Alice in Wonderland
Looking for a tea party with a bit of a quirky twist? Then how about a Mad Hatters Tea party. Caterpillar sandwiches to start with jam tarts and White Rabbit carrot cake to follow. Oodles of scones. Vintage tea pots filled with not tea, but chocolate eggs. “Eat me” cupcakes and edible white mice go down well with “drink me” strawberry and banana smoothies. And it can all be washed down with lashings of English breakfast tea served in mismatched vintage tea cups. Just perfect for a summer wedding or special celebratory garden party.
Arabian Nights feast
Looking for a Middle Eastern twist to your event and want your food to reflect this? Then our Arabian feast menu is perfect, offering an array of colour and taste from start to finish. Begin with a mezze platter boasting hummus, baba ganoush, spinach fatayer and sambousek all accompanied by flat bread. Tuck in to our braised lamb shank tagine, full of prunes, almonds, apricots and figs. Try the spicy lamb sausage, herb and onion kefta or the lemon and garlic chicken which will leave taste buds tingling. And if that’s not enough to take you right into the heart of Aladdin’s world, finish off your meal with Moroccan orange and almond cake and a selection of finger licking baklava.
The Great British buffet
Maybe it’s the Queen’s birthday and you’re throwing a party or you’re celebrating all our Olympic gold medals. Whatever the occasion, we put the ‘Great’ back into British food. Choose from a homemade steak and kidney pie served with warm buttery potatoes and fresh minted peas. Opt for good old sausages and mash, chunky leek and apple pork sausages served with flavoursome wholegrain mustard, garlic and onion mash and a side of braised red cabbage. And what could top that off better than a traditional filling sweet? That’s why we serve up bread and butter pudding and apple and rhubarb pie (both with lashings of fresh custard or clotted cream). Or a fabulous summer pudding. Making you hungry isn’t it!
