Here at Parties to Go we’re passionate about food and everything that goes with it. Whether we’re trying out a new dish or busy preparing a stunning menu for a fairytale wedding we love sharing our stories, top tips or just tell letting people know what we have been up to. So here is a little round up of what has been going on with us.

The BBQ has arrived

In celebration of the 22nd National BBQ Week (May 28-June 3) we thought we’d pay homage to the good old Great British BBQ.

Barbecuing has now become one of the UK’s top summer home activities, and we’ve also found BBQs have become a popular choice for catering events over the last few years, with many summer wedding couples opting for one over a traditional wedding breakfast. People like the informality and laid-back atmosphere a BBQ creates and with the interesting menu options available, it opens up a whole new world of choices.

No longer does talk of a BBQ summon up visions of the odd burnt sausage and processed burger. There are many recipes out there for amazing marinades to liven up meat, as well as lots of ideas for kebabs and skewers and tasty choices for vegetarians and fish lovers too. And no BBQ is complete without a great selection of salads and side dishes bringing flavour, contrast and colour to the table.

So, what do we suggest for your event? Well, depending on taste, number and budget, the world really is your oyster when it comes to BBQs. Dishes we’ve recently served up include lamb and apricot kebabs, maple glazed pork ribs, salmon steaks with chilli and lime butter and homemade Aberdeen angus burgers. Served up with sides like homemade PTG coleslaw, roasted vegetable couscous and jersey royal potato salad. We’d recommend choosing around 4 main items which should include a vegetarian alternative and perhaps a fish option such as our prawn and halloumi skewers.

And think about how formal you want your meal. BBQs can be versatile enough to do away with a knife and fork if that’s what you are looking for. Steer towards homemade burgers, hot filled rolls and kebabs and skewers if you want a more finger food approach. Maybe even order some kraft paper food trays from somewhere like Etsy to do away with plates.

There is lots you can do to make your BBQ a real event and we have many ideas around menus and other aspects of BBQ catering to help you plan for your special occasion. Our food is always cooked over hot coals by our experienced chefs and we’re on hand to make sure everything goes smoothly. If you’re thinking about a BBQ for any event coming up, then take a look at our menus or give us a call on 0208 9475337 and we will be happy to talk things through with you.

And remember, everything goes better with a BBQ!
