Some Christmas inspiration
We’re into the last few days of November and then Christmas will be in full swing. If you’ve managed to hold off from getting into the festive mood until December 1st then you have fared better than us. Christmas planning starts early for a catering company and each year we look for new inspiration to make all our Christmas parties go off with a bang.
If you’re online and au fait with Pinterest then you are probably using it for inspiration already and may already follow our page (if not pop over there now and give us a follow). We love adding our images and inspiration and drawing from the many scrapbook ideas we find to add that little extra something to what we do.
So, here are 4 of our favourite things we have seen and pinned recently that we think will give you some festive inspiration to make your Christmas catering go down a storm.
Antipasto wreath
Oh yes, this is something that should most definitely feature at any Christmas party you put on. So simple, so colourful and so delicious, it will definitely get the guests talking. This method from Joyful Healthy Eats using individual skewers is easy to follow. Just get some cocktail sticks and then thread them with a variety of antipasti such as cured meat, various cheeses, vegetables, marinated vegetables, olives and fresh basil. Then build them up on a platter in a circle for the finishing touch. Not only does it look great but tastes sensational as well. It would also make a great appetiser if you’re looking for something simple and light before Christmas dinner that you can prepare in advance. Serve with a variety of bread and some balsamic and olive oil for dipping.
Themed dessert
From snowman cake pops to Christmas pudding fridge cakes, there are so many cute and clever ideas jumping out at you when you search for Christmas food ideas on Pinterest. As you may know, we do may themed party events where the food and the decoration suite in with the theme, so ideas like this can be worth saving. One of our favourites and something a little healthier to add to the buffet table over Christmas are strawberry Santa hats. We love the ones created by Sherbakes and we prefer to use melted white chocolate to stick the desiccated coconut and mini marshmallow. Select the biggest, prettiest, red strawberries you can find. Cut off the top and dip in the melted chocolate taking care not to overload so they still stand flat. Then dip into the coconut. Finish off by dipping the mini mallow in the chocolate and top the strawberry off.
Christmas table lights
The finishing touches and added extras can add to the ambience and the look of your Christmas food table. With an abundance of decorations to buy and many ideas all over sites like Pinterest, we still love the idea of doing things ourselves. Especially when the lovely comments come flooding in and you can feel proud you’ve done something yourself. And it needn’t be expensive either. Among our favourites are these lovely Christmas floating table centrepieces from 33 Shades of Green. Find some clear vases – shape and size down to you – and add (carefully) holly or other festive greenery. You could also try some cranberries. Arrange carefully and then top with water. Add a floating candle and voila! A beautiful and decorative centrepiece.
White Christmas Mojito
Christmas isn’t all about wine, champagne, eggnog and snowballs. We love to throw in some festive cocktails to add some fun Christmas tastes and do things a little bit differently. There are lots of ideas for cocktails and drinks at Christmas, especially from big brands such as Baileys who come into their own at this time of year. We love this little number from Halfbaked Harvest though – a creamy coconut white Christmas mojito! It’s a festive twist on a classic and the mint complements the coconut taste. You can decorate it with a sprig of mint and pomegranate arils to give that Christmassy red and green touch to it too. Just delicious.
