News and blog

Here at Parties to Go we’re passionate about food and everything that goes with it. Whether we’re trying out a new dish or busy preparing a stunning menu for a fairytale wedding we love sharing our stories, top tips or just tell letting people know what we have been up to. So here is a little round up of what has been going on with us.

Food days you won’t want to miss

Pancake day has to be one of the most popular days of the year and most people love a pancake and a good ‘toss’ on Shrove Tuesday. This got us thinking about all the other celebrated food holidays, national and global, which you may or may not be aware of. So, here are a few that we think everybody should celebrate. After all, why not have an extra excuse to indulge in some of your favourites!

British Yorkshire Pudding Day
First Sunday in February
A celebration of these delightfully fluffy and crispy little (or big) batters. Traditionally served with roast beef they are now a welcome addition to many meals. We love doing a dinky version and sinking a little sausage inside to make mouth-watering, mini canapés.

World Nutella day
5 February
Started in 2007 by American blogger Sara Rosso, an avid Nutella fan, who decided this chocolatey treat deserved some recognition for being so tasty. So, along with other fans she dedicated this day to everything Nutella, with people sharing their Nutella love throughout the world. She handed this official day over to Ferraro (the makers of Nutella) in 2015 to continue to grow the love. www.nutelladay.com

British Pie Week
The first full week of March
As a nation of pie lovers, this is one celebration to get behind. Whether it’s a savoury pie, dessert pie or even a pasty or pizza, there’s so many to choose from that there is something for everyone to enjoy. You’re sure to get a whole week of tastiness with this specific celebration.

National Tea Day
21 April
This is the official day for Brits to celebrate our love of tea. With the slogan ‘Brew more. Do more.’ this national day focuses on getting Britain excited about tea and covers everything from consuming it, cooking with it, food pairing and creating more tea moments. So, get behind the campaign, get involved and discover there’s more to tea than many of us know. www.nationalteaday.co.uk

National BBQ week
25 – 31 May 2020
Now in its 24th year, National BBQ week continues the mission to make Britons better BBQ’ers. We love a good BBQ and it’s a firm favourite with many of our customers, so this is one not to miss. And, let’s be honest, with so many lovely things to grill these days and recipes to experiment with, even the weather can’t dampen this deliciousness. www.nationalbbqweek.co.uk

National Fish & Chips Day
5 June 2020
Fish and chip lovers can delight over the celebration of this positively iconic British dish. With the aim of bringing everyone together who has a hand in creating this mouth-watering meal, from restaurants to fishermen, if having fish and chips on the day isn’t enough for you then you can get involved to show your support by registering now. www.neoda.org.uk

World Chocolate Day
7 July
Move over Willy Wonka, World Chocolate day is for anyone and everyone who hankers after this delicious sweet treat. If you didn’t already need an excuse to eat dark, milk or white chocolate, then this day is even more reason to indulge. And if you’re trying to be good, why not cover your favourite fruit with the stuff – that still counts as healthy right? We love our chocolate covered strawberries and they look so pretty too!!

MacMillan World’s Biggest Coffee Morning
25 September
Ok, this one is a bit of an anomaly, but we thought it deserved a place in our line-up. We love a nice hot drink with a piece of cake, so the idea that you can enjoy this treat and help a good cause is a no brainer. It all began back in 1990 and has since then raised over £275 million for Macmillan. The idea is to host a coffee morning and any donations on the day are given to this worthwhile charity. The official date is 25 September, but you can hold them any day. If you’d like more information or want your coffee morning kit you can sign up now on MacMillan’s website. coffee.macmillan.org.uk

UK Sausage Week
26 October – 1 November
This is a whole week dedicated to celebrating the great British banger! From lots of different flavoured sausages to recipes using this culinary delight, there is so much more to this funny shaped food than good old bangers and mash. We like serving them with an array of tasty dips or glazing them for a lip-smacking sensation. uksausageweek.com
