Here at Parties to Go we’re passionate about food and everything that goes with it. Whether we’re trying out a new dish or busy preparing a stunning menu for a fairytale wedding we love sharing our stories, top tips or just tell letting people know what we have been up to. So here is a little round up of what has been going on with us.

5 Terrifying Treats For Your Halloween This Year

Spooky season is upon us, pumpkins are getting carved and parties are being planned. Obviously, that makes it one of our favourite times of the year! Here to help you plan your Halloween weekend, we’ve put together five of the easiest spooky snacks you can make at home.

Sausage Mummies

Kicking it off with menacing mummies from Frankfurt. Not only are they cheap and easy, they’re sure to be a fan favourite amongst all ages.

Get yourself a pack of frankfurter sausages and some ready rolled light puff pastry then preheat the oven to 200°. Lightly roll out the pastry to around 0.5cm thick over a floured surface and cut vertically into long thin strips.

Wrap the pastry strips around each frankfurter to create the mummy look, brush with a beaten egg and bake for 20 minutes. Use some soft cream cheese and a tiny piece of black olive to create the eyes!

Serve with ketchup, obviously!

75 g pack Ready Rolled Light Puff Pastry
350 g pack Frankfurters
1 egg, lightly beaten
4 tsp soft cheese, to decorate
1 tsp chopped black olives, to decorate

Wizard & Witch Cupcakes

As seen on our Harry Potter themed party menu, these wizard & witches cupcakes are great fun to make with the kids.

First things first, line the baking sheet with parchment paper – nice and easy. Next, melt 280g of milk chocolate in a heatproof bowl, the microwave on a low setting should do the trick. Once melted, stir until smooth.

Now the fun bit. Start to pour the melted chocolate on your ice cream cones with a spoon, turning the cone and repeating until it’s evenly covered. Sprinkle edible silver balls, sprinkles, or whatever fun (edible) decorations you fancy all over the wizard hats and let them stand upright for some time and rest until the chocolate is set.

Cover each cupcake with a swirl of frosting and sprinkles. Now that the wizard hats are dry, fill them with unwrapped sweets and treats and stick them to the frosting side of the cupcake!

280g Milk Chocolate, chopped
12 Ice Cream cones
Edible silver balls or coloured sprinkles
12 cupcakes (any flavour)
About 2 cups frosting (any flavour)
Assorted unwrapped sweets

Bloody Mary Syringes

For the less PG rated parties this Halloween, these shooters are the perfect creepy cocktail.

In a large bowl, mix tomato juice, vodka, Worcestershire sauce, hot pepper sauce, lemon juice and pepper, then give it a good whisk.

Fill the food safe syringes with the mixture and chill, serve cold.

2 cup tomato juice
250ml vodka
2 tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
2 tsp. hot sauce (such as Tabasco)
Juice of 1/2 a lemon
Freshly ground black pepper

Pumpkin Devilled Eggs

Place your eggs in a saucepan and cover in boiling water and cook for 1 minute. Remove from the heat and then let sit, covered for 14 minutes. Crack the shells and peel, I usually do this under cool running water.

Half the eggs lengthwise and spoon out the yolks into a small bowl. Using a fork, mash the yolks and stir in some mayonnaise, lemon juice and Dijon mustard then season with salt and pepper.

Spoon the yolk mixture back into the egg whites and smooth the top, before carefully dusting paprika all over the yolk mixture. Use a sharp knife to make the ridges in the yolk to the give the pumpkin look. Place chive above the mixture to look like a stem and serve.

12 large eggs
1/2 cup mayonnaise
Juice of 1/2 lemon
1 1/2 tsp. Dijon mustard
Salt
Freshly ground black pepper
2 tbsp. paprika
4 chives, cut into small pieces

Strawberry Ghosts

A spooky seasonal take on a classic family favourite.

In a large bowl, combine melted white chocolate and coconut oil then stir. Dunk the strawberries into the mix and place two mini chocolate chips onto the top half for eyes then place them in the fridge for 10 minute to harden.

While it’s cooling, use this time to melt some of the spare chocolate chips to use for the mouths on the ghosts. Let them cool again and serve, spooky.

1 Punnet of strawberries
1 1/2 cup white chocolate, melted
1 tsp. coconut oil
1/4 cup mini chocolate chips
1 cup chocolate chips, melted
