Chocolate inspiration: milk, dark, or white?
They say three is the magic number! So today, we’re sharing some chocolate inspiration in the form of our favourite dishes across the holy trinity of dark, milk and white. Each of our chocolate dishes is as distinctive as it is delicious, so read on for some mouth-watering chocolate inspiration from the Parties To Go team.
Dark chocolate dishes
Lavishly spread over toast. Coated thickly over fresh fruit. Flaked over the top of an enormous pud… We can’t get enough of the stuff. Experts say dark chocolate should have a cocoa content of 70% or more, with a high number indicating a richer, more bitter flavour.
If you’ve ever seen the movie Chocolat, you’ll know a rich, dark chocolate sauce is divine when poured over sweet, roast meats like chicken or venison. And for the less adventurous, sneaking a square or two in a red wine sauce adds a velvety depth without even a hint of cocoa. How’s that for chocolate inspiration?
For us, simplicity is a must with dark chocolate recipes. Our caterers in Wimbledon recommend our fudgy dark chocolate cake, which is light in the mouth and easy on the eye – just look at that edible gold dust – and ideal for birthdays and intimate get-togethers.
Milk chocolate recipes
This kind is often pushed aside in chocolate recipes, in favour of its richer cousin (especially in baking, where dark is used for ganache, fondants and fillings for brownies, amongst other things!). But its sweeter, milder taste makes it great for decorating. Just ask our Wimbledon caterers!
Our lemon curd roulade wouldn’t be the same without lashings of thick milk chocolate (and a few generous truffles). And it’s not just cakes where you can drizzle on the choc, either – one of our customer favourites is our choux buns (think soft pastry, oodles of cream and more chocolate than you can shake a stick of butter at).

White chocolate inspiration
The last and final variety of chocolate in our love-list is white. It’s the creamiest kind, which makes it perfect for whipping into mousses. Dip into ours, and you’ll find a crumbled Amaretti biscuit base topped with three layers of mousse – one for each type of chocolate – and Kirsch-soaked cherries snuggled between them. To crown it off, there are shavings of dark chocolate and an arrangement of raspberries, mint and dragon fruit for the ultimate sweet hit.
Blondies are another great way to try cooking with chocolate, as well as traditional treats like fudge, truffles, souffles and macarons – just see how elegant they look on this afternoon tea our Wimbledon caterers put together.
So, there you have it! Tons of chocolate inspiration, and ideas for chocolate recipes, from our team in Wimbledon. Whether you’re into cooking with chocolate or just eating it for a little bite of luxury, it’s one versatile ingredient!
