Here at Parties to Go we’re passionate about food and everything that goes with it. Whether we’re trying out a new dish or busy preparing a stunning menu for a fairytale wedding we love sharing our stories, top tips or just tell letting people know what we have been up to. So here is a little round up of what has been going on with us.

Planning a party: your guide to a perfect day

Planning a party is easy when you know how.

For many years, our team of caterers in Wimbledon have helped countless people celebrate events great and small. Covering baby showers, anniversary events and engagement parties to retirement bashes and – of course – weddings, there’s nothing we can’t do. We can even arrange the perfect send-off when a loved one passes.

Today, we’re going behind the scenes to help you with planning a party of your own. Best of all, our experts are on hand to help you bring it all to life at the end.

So, what goes into planning a party? Read on to find out.

Theme

Every occasion needs a great theme. Here in 2025, we’re already seeing some of the trends in action. For birthday parties, that’s often led by popular culture (so expect to see lots of homages to Wizard of Oz), but hot this year are masquerade ball, carnival and disco.

If you’re not sure where to begin with your theme, you could think about who you’re inviting, where you want to host your party and even the time of year (because ‘winter wonderland’ isn’t ideal in summer!).

Menu

When planning a party, some people first think about the food. Do you want a sit-down, formal meal with servers? Do you prefer a more casual buffet where people can help themselves? Or do you want the ease of finger food with the formality of canapés? You could even consider food carts, or a mobile chef and bar.

We’ve got plenty of inspiration on our Parties To Go menus. And after decades in the business, we know what has crowd appeal. From whimsical Harry Potter afternoon tea to a meaty outdoor BBQ, to a filling brunch with hot, cold and dessert options, we’ve really got something for everyone.

Venue

Part of the fun of party planning is to visit different event locations and picture what your special occasion could look like. Our partners include sprawling country manors, historic schools, sports clubs and even a vineyard.

When choosing your venue, be sure to ask how many guests can be accommodated and whether there are any restrictions in place. For example, on selling/serving alcohol or photography – as some places have their own in-house photographer.

Extras

Don’t forget those all-important extras when planning a party: flowers, decorations, photos and – of course – invitations! Again, with lots of friends and partners in the events business, we’ll probably know someone who can help.
