Here at Parties to Go we’re passionate about food and everything that goes with it. Whether we’re trying out a new dish or busy preparing a stunning menu for a fairytale wedding we love sharing our stories, top tips or just tell letting people know what we have been up to. So here is a little round up of what has been going on with us.

A little poem for Christmas

‘Twas the night before Christmas at Parties to Go,
The oven was hot and the stove was on low.
The menu was planned by the whole team with care,
And those we’d invited would soon all be there.

The quail eggs were ready not a moment too soon,
While the tangy Thai prawns were dished on to spoons.
And smoked salmon was put with a little cream cheese,
Grilled Tiger prawns slid on kebab sticks with ease.

When out of the kitchen there came a low shout,
So we sprang up to find what the noise was about.
Away to the kitchen we flew like a flash,
Made our way through doors with a bang and a clash.

The prep had been done and the washing up ready,
But cook was still chopping her hands ever steady.
When, what should our wondering eyes go and see,
But Santa in our kitchen as clear as can be.

With a red velvet suit and a white beard so thick,
We knew in a moment it must be St. Nick.
With a sack full of presents down the chimney he’d come,
But this jolly old man looked really glum.

“Now, Carole! now, Carole! now, what’s gone on here?
I look forward to your food this time every year!
Your fillet of pork or a spicy meatball!
Lamb balti! Roast duck breast! I just love it all!”

We realised with horror our one oversight,
This year Santa had not been sent an invite.
So many events, planned, done and past,
That our own party list had been done very last.

So, quick, in a twinkling, we knew what to do,
We grabbed burgers and beef and blinis and stew.
He tucked straight in and enjoyed every bite,
St. Nick needed good food to keep him going that night.

First, he had lobster and a little smoked fish,
he grew happier and happier with every dish.
The mini game pies were an utter delight,
And he said that our sauces were creamy and light.

His eyes – now they twinkled! his dimples how merry!
His cheeks were now rosy (from the small glass of sherry)!
His droll little mouth was full up with fare,
And he enjoyed our food without worry or care.

So, next we brought pudding, a few to be tasted,
Only small portions so nothing was wasted.
His broad smile grew as he rubbed his belly,
He just loved the trifle (especially the jelly).

His bowl was then empty, he was now full up,
So to finish we gave him a small coffee cup.
He drank the hot liquid until there was none,
Then exclaimed in a loud voice that now he was done.

He thanked us most kindly for all our hard work,
And acknowledged the post did come with some perks.
Now fed and watered his job he must do,
So went back to the kitchen and up the chimney he flew.

As our guests arrived and more food was prepared,
Canapés were eaten and our story was shared.
Then in the distance we heard Santa say with delight,
HAPPY CHRISTMAS TO ALL, AND TO ALL A GOOD-NIGHT!
